- Lewis Hamilton has denied rumors that Ferrari has approached him and stated that his team, Mercedes, is almost done with agreeing on a new contract. Hamilton’s current contract with Mercedes ends this season, and it was speculated that Ferrari had offered him a £40m-a-year contract to join them from 2024. However, Hamilton’s representatives are working with Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff to finalize a new agreement. Although the seven-time F1 world champion expressed his desire to break records and win his eighth crown, he said that Mercedes’ plummeting performance in the past two years would not affect his decision to re-sign with them. Hamilton will get his first taste of a new upgrade in practice this Friday and hopes that this will boost his position. Neither Hamilton nor the Ferrari boss Fred Vasseur confirmed talks, and Mercedes’ boss Toto Wolff states that Hamilton will sign his new contract soon.
