After his defeat to Gilbert Burns, Jorge Masvidal denies allegations from Burns that he cheated during the fight. Burns suggested that Masvidal had used lotion to remain slippery during grappling exchanges, but Masvidal denies ever doing so. He says that there are several agencies including referees present at such events, so if he had been cheating, it would have been caught. Masvidal also claimed that he’s never been caught cheating or using any illegal substances in his 50 professional fights. Burns later apologised for his allegations. This was Masvidal’s fourth consecutive defeat, and he announced his retirement from professional fighting after the fight. Masvidal also paid tribute to Donald Trump, who was present at the Miami-Dade Arena during the fight.
