Israel Adesanya has recently revealed that he had a severe knee injury two weeks before regaining the UFC middleweight title. Despite the injury, Adesanya was still able to knock out Alex Pereira in the second round at UFC 287 on 9 April, which marked his first victory in four attempts and allowed him to regain the belt he had lost to Pereira in November. According to Adesanya, he had suffered a Grade 1 MCL tear 13 days before the fight, but was able to overcome the injury due to his determination to win. Adesanya’s next fight is expected to be against the winner of the Robert Whittaker vs Dricus Du Plessis fight scheduled for July.
