Alexander Zverev has continued his winning streak in the Monte Carlo Masters second round, defeating Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. With this victory, the German 13th seed has set himself up to face third-seeded Daniil Medvedev who won his match against Italian Lorenzo Sonego. While Medvedev has won four hardcourt titles this year, he admits that he has always struggled on clay due to the lack of rhythm and bad bounces. Other notable victories in the tournament include Casper Ruud’s win over Botic van de Zandschulp and Karen Khachanov’s win over Ilya Ivashka. Meanwhile, former US Open champion Dominic Thiem suffered a 6-2, 6-4 loss to Holger Rune in his attempt to recover from a wrist injury.
