Britain’s chances of reaching the Billie Jean King Cup Finals are in jeopardy, after Katie Boulter and Harriet Dart lost their matches against France in Coventry. With Emma Raducanu absent from the tie, Britain went in as overwhelming underdogs, and they must win all three rubbers on Saturday to avoid defeat. Boulter lost a closely contested match against world number five Caroline Garcia, with the match lasting three hours and 26 minutes. Meanwhile, Dart was unable to capitalise on her chances and lost to 70th ranked Alize Cornet. Britain’s team captain, Anne Keothavong, praised the players for their efforts and said that they need to come back fighting on Saturday.
