Emma Raducanu pulls out of Madrid Open due to a hand injury.

Emma Raducanu has pulled out of the Madrid Open due to a right hand injury. She was scheduled to play her first-round match against Viktoriya Tomova on Wednesday but withdrew just hours before the match. Raducanu had hoped to break her losing streak of three straight defeats. The tournament’s official Twitter account announced her withdrawal. Raducanu had a stop-start season due to an ankle injury and wrist issues that forced an early end to her 2022 campaign. She reached the last 32 in Indian Wells last month but lost to world number one Iga Swiatek and was eliminated in the first round at the Miami Open and Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart. Raducanu is now likely to fall outside the WTA’s top-100 for the first time since her historic win at the 2021 US Open.
