Carlos Alcaraz is still in the running to defend his Madrid Open title after defeating Karen Khachanov in the quarterfinals. Despite falling behind in the second set, Alcaraz was able to rally and seize victory after two sets. This is Alcaraz’s third ATP Masters 1000 semi-final appearance this season, having previously won in Indian Wells and Barcelona. The Spaniard has now won 19 of his last 20 matches and has a nine-game winning streak on clay courts. Borna Coric will meet Alcaraz in the semi-finals after taking down Daniel Altmaier in straight sets. Murray ended his losing streak with a victory over Gael Monfils in the ATP Challenger event in Aix-en-Provence. The former world number one will face Laurent Lokoli next as he aims to build momentum for the upcoming French Open.
