Former tennis champion, Boris Becker, has recently commented on his time in prison, saying that it was a challenging experience, where he had to fight for survival every day. Becker, who won Wimbledon three times, was sentenced to two and a half years in jail in April last year, for hiding around £2.5 million worth of assets and loans, in order to avoid paying debts. He was released after serving eight months. The former champion stated that the incarceration had “humbled” him, but claimed to have also emerged a “stronger, better man”. Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast, Becker described prison life as “hard” and “difficult”, and suggested that anyone who claims otherwise is not truthful.
