Revamped appeal by Ferrari against penalty imposed on Carlos Sainz at Australian Grand Prix

Ferrari has filed an appeal against the five-second penalty imposed on their driver Carlos Sainz at the Australian Grand Prix. Sainz was given the punishment for colliding with Fernando Alonso, an Aston Martin driver, in the fight for third at the opening bend after a late restart at Albert Park. Sainz passionately pleaded with his team to persuade the stewards to reconsider their decision. The penalty resulted in Sainz finishing in the 12th position from fourth place. Ferrari team principal, Frederic Vasseur, confirmed that they have registered the petition with FIA within the given 14 days and are hoping to have the hearing before the next race in Baku. Vasseur also emphasized the importance of an open discussion with the stewards to ensure that the decision is fair. Ferrari faced a miserable day in Melbourne as Charles Leclerc, their other driver, was forced to retire following a collision with Lance Stroll.
