Roberto De Zerbi, the head coach of Brighton, has declared that Moises Caicedo is a “top player” who is capable of playing in any position on the pitch. Caicedo has been a midfield standout for Brighton throughout the season, but was called upon to play as a right-back due to injuries in the game against Manchester United on Thursday. With Pascal Gross facing a fitness test for the upcoming clash against Everton, and Joel Veltman and Tariq Lamptey expected to remain sidelined, Caicedo may once again be required to fill in as a makeshift right-back. Although De Zerbi was hesitant to deviate from a four-man defence against United or drop midfielder Billy Gilmour, Caicedo’s performance vindicated the coach’s decision, aiding Brighton in securing a 1-0 last-gasp victory. Brighton is now preparing to complete a trio of consecutive home games against Sean Dyche’s relegation-threatened Toffees. De Zerbi has urged his squad to be prepared to aid the club’s quest to secure continental qualification during the next three weeks, stressing the importance of every member of the squad being ready to play. Gross and striker Evan Ferguson’s condition will be assessed ahead of the Everton clash, while Lamptey, Adam Lallana, Jakub Moder, and Jeremy Sarmiento remain sidelined for the Seagulls.
