The investigation initiated by the government into the departure of senior civil servant Sue Gray, who joined Labour, has been suspended. The reason behind the suspension is that Ms Gray declined to participate in the inquiry. Cabinet Office Minister, Oliver Dowden mentioned that the government would assess the situation and decide on the next course of action as Ms Gray decided not to provide any representation as part of the investigation. Ms Gray, who conducted her inquiry into alleged lockdown-breaching parties held in Downing Street, was offered the role of Chief of Staff to Labour Leader Keir Starmer in March.
