A member of the Cabinet has admitted that no MP would be willing to have a facility that accommodates a lot of asylum seekers in their constituency as the Government has reportedly escalated efforts to locate lodging on ships. James Cleverly, the Foreign Secretary, stated that the Government’s Illegal Migration Bill is designed to expedite the process so that extensive accommodation facilities would not be necessary in the future. It has been reported that the government is currently seeking accommodation on ships for asylum seekers. This comes as an Essex council, of which the Braintree MP is a member, failed to obtain a High Court injunction to prevent the Government from using the defunct RAF Wethersfield airfield in that location to shelter asylum seekers.
