- Karrin Taylor Robson has announced that she will not be running for the Arizona Senate contest against independent Kyrsten Sinema. Robson, who lost the GOP primary to Kari Lake, a Donald Trump ally, and darling of his Make America Great Again movement during her run for governor last year, is considered to be a strong establishment candidate. Instead of running for office immediately, Robson has decided to work on identifying and electing strong conservatives, especially focusing on the state legislature. Her unsuccessful campaign for governor had received an endorsement from prominent establishment Republicans, including former VP Mike Pence. The possibility of Lake running for the Senate has worried many traditional Republicans, who are concerned that, while she would be the clear front runner in a GOP primary, she may not be able to win a general election. At present, Representative Ruben Gallego is the only major Democratic candidate running for office in the race, and it is possible that Sen. Sinema may seek a second term, which could lead to a complicated three-way contest. Robson has not ruled out running for office in the future.
