- Florida Governor Ron DeSantis faced a barrage of technical glitches during his announcement of a 2024 presidential campaign on Twitter Spaces, which provided his political rivals the opportunity to ridicule him. The governor’s announcement on the audio group-chat feature of Twitter with Elon Musk suffered from repeated silences and echoes. At one point, Mr DeSantis’s audio-only livestream feed was suddenly interrupted. When he eventually did start speaking, 20 minutes behind schedule, Mr Musk shut the initial Spaces event and started a new one. The buggy start to Mr DeSantis’s bid for the top job was dismissed by Twitter users as a “disaster.” However, Mr DeSantis’s press secretary claimed the event raised $1m for the campaign in one hour.
