Paymentsense is a payment processing company based in the UK that provides merchant services to small and medium-sized businesses. The company was founded by George Karibian and Jan Farrarons in 2008 and is headquartered in London. Paymentsense’s turnover was £174m in 2022 and £104m in 2021. The founders of Paymentsense also founded Capital on Tap and Judopay, and they are successful serial entrepreneurs.
The company offers an array of payment solutions, including card machines, online payments, phone payments, and virtual terminals, in its quest to provide cost-effective payment solutions and excellent customer service to its clients. Paymentsense’s card machines can process contactless payments, chip and PIN, and magnetic stripe transactions, making it easy for businesses to accept card payments in-store. Paymentsense’s online payment gateway allows businesses to accept payments on their website or through a mobile app.
Paymentsense offers several value-added services to its clients, such as real-time sales reporting and 24/7 customer support. The company has been recognized for its services and has won several awards, including the “Best Merchant Service Provider” award at the 2020 British Bank Awards. Retail, hospitality, and healthcare are among the various sectors served by the payment processor, which has more than 80,000 clients and processes over £10 billion sales and over 250 million transactions yearly.
Dojo, the company’s payment terminal product, launched in 2020 and has rapidly propelled Paymentsense’s growth. The development of Dojo was made possible by building the processing platform, which allowed the company to be less reliant on First Data and client-focused. All new clients are boarded onto Dojo, which has been enhanced with the acquisition of Walkup for £20m, adding a virtual queue and booking management system for restaurants.
