Legends again ’emotional’ Knights trainer after fan spray

Adam O’Brien’s post-match feedback following his aspect’s comeback win over Manly had been defended via former NRL captains Paul Gallen and Cameron Smith.

After the Knights fell in the back of 16-0 to the Sea Eagles, lovers booed them off the bottom at part time prior to they fixed a comeback to scouse borrow the win.

An afternoon later O’Brien apologised, pronouncing he was once alerted to the response of the lovers on the press convention and went into coverage mode.

“I apologise unreservedly to our members and fans that I offended and I can understand why they would be offended,” he stated.

Speaking on Nine’s 100% Footy, Gallen stated context is essential when judging O’Brien’s response and gamers don’t have an issue with the trainer’s feedback.

“I don’t see too much wrong with this to be honest with you. I understand the Newcastle fans would be filthy. I do understand that, and they’re entitled to boo,” he stated.

“They pay their money to go there, they’re allowed to boo. But when Adam O’Brien didn’t know about the booing, he get told about it for the first time in a press conference after his team just came back, scored 20 odd points in the second half, and won the game for him.

“I’d moderately my trainer stick up for me than say, no, they are most certainly proper, we had been crap as soon as once more.

“I would rather my coach go into bat for me like he did for his team. I understand the Newcastle fans being frustrated and at the end of the day, they’ll forgive him if they keep winning games.

“But what he did that evening, backing your gamers, sticking up to your gamers, I admire.”

Smith concurred.

“There’s team spirit inside that that footy membership and throughout the footy workforce when the trainer comes out and backs his gamers,” the former Storm captain said.

“He stated the ones lovers that booed the workforce do not know rugby league and the force that they are beneath and the hassle that they installed within the first part and he spoke about the ones issues.

“I know Adam O’Brien quite well from his time as as a coach at the Melbourne Storm. He’s an emotional guy, he’s an emotional coach, he he loves his players and he cares for them.

“So he does not like to peer them handled that means. Whether they deserved it or now not, that isn’t what we are speaking about.”
