ROME — Italy’s nationwide football staff trainer Luciano Spalletti introduced Sunday that he’s being fired and can go away after Monday’s World Cup qualifier in opposition to Moldova.
The transfer comes two days after Italy misplaced 3-0 at Norway in its opening qualifier — already elevating the possibility that the Azzurri may fail for the 3rd consecutive time to qualify for the World Cup.
“Last night I had a conversation with the president (Italian soccer federation president Gabriele Gravina) and he told me that I would be fired,” Spalletti stated in a pre-match information convention at Italy’s coaching middle. “I didn’t have any intention on (leaving) and I would have preferred to stay on. But it’s a sacking and I realize that.”
