Goa Doctors Call Off Strike Against Health Minister After Meeting CM Pramod Sawant

PANAJI: Goa medical doctors on Tuesday referred to as off their deliberate strike in opposition to Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, who used harsh language in opposition to Dr Rudresh Kuttikar throughout a talk over with to the Goa Medical College and Hospital. A committee has been formed to oversee the demands implementation, comprising the Secretary of Health, Dean of the Medical College and concerned Department Heads,” stated Sawant.

 

The Goa CM thanked medical doctors for his or her working out and cooperation in calling off the strike. “We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of our medical staff and providing quality healthcare to the people of Goa,” stated Pramod Sawant.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was once signed between the medical doctors and the federal government. The MOU outlines the phrases agreed upon by way of each events, paving the best way for stepped forward clinic security and safety measures.

A large protest broke out at Goa Medical College (GMC) on Monday as medical doctors, Heads of Departments, interns, and scientific scholars united in anger in opposition to Health Minister Vishwajit Rane. They demanded a public apology and an finish to the VIP tradition in hospitals.

 

Medical pros throughout departments participated extensively within the protest. Speaking to ANI, one of the most medical doctors, Pratik Sawant, stated, “The doctors of GMC strongly condemn the verbal abuse of our colleague that happened in the Emergency Medicine and Trauma Department’s casualty on Saturday.”

In reaction to the backlash, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane expressed remorseful about over his behaviour in a publish on X. “During the broadcast with Prudent Media last night, I openly apologised to Dr. Rudresh Kuttikar for the harsh words I spoke during my visit to GMC. In the heat of the moment, my emotions overtook my expression, and I deeply regret how I addressed the situation. I never intended to undermine or disrespect the dignity of any medical professional,” Rane wrote.
