Firefighters tackling blaze above Perth’s Royal Bar

Firefighters are tackling a big blaze at a multi-storey development in Perth which broke out within the early hours.

Crews had been despatched to the scene on the junction of Scott Street and South Street at about 01:30 and about 11 fireplace engines remained on the scene via 08:00.

The roof of the crimson sandstone development – the place the Royal Bar is at the floor ground – has been totally destroyed.

Police have closed off Scott Street, South Street and Canal Street. People had been recommended to steer clear of the realm.
