Report: Canada’s Jay Triano out as Kings assistant trainer

As the Sacramento Kings make adjustments to their bench, a Canadian has discovered himself at the outs.

Lead assistant trainer Jay Triano is not going to go back to the group subsequent season, The Athletic reported on Saturday.

Triano, 66, joined the Kings in August 2022 and spent 3 seasons with the group, together with the remaining two as lead assistant.

But Sacramento fired head trainer Mike Brown in December and changed him with assistant Doug Christie, who used to be passed the full-time gig previous this week.

Jawad Williams and 3 different assistants are out together with Triano, whilst Leandro Barbosa will stay at the bench, The Athletic added.

Triano has coached within the NBA since becoming a member of the Toronto Raptors as an assistant in 2002. He’s had two stints as head trainer with the Raptors (2008-11) and Phoenix Suns (2017-18).

The Tillsonburg, Ont., local used to be additionally Canada’s males’s nationwide group head trainer from 1998-2004, main the group to the 2000 Olympics.
