Roman Catholic cardinals decided on Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost as the brand new pope on Thursday, the primary time an American has been decided on as pontiff.
Prevost, 69, selected the papal title Leo XIV.
A Chicago local, Prevost used to be selected on the second one day of the cardinals’ conclave.
