In a significant anti-corruption operation, the Odisha Vigilance Department on Friday performed raids at seven places allegedly connected to Baikuntha Nath Sarangi, Chief Engineer of the Odisha Rural Works Division, from his Bhubaneswar flat and Angul place of abode.
Officials recovered about Rs 1 crore from his flat in Bhubaneswar and round Rs 1.1 crore from his place of abode in Angul, for a complete money restoration of roughly 2.1 crore. Officials mentioned that the counting procedure continues to be underway.
According to the Vigilance Department, Sarangi threw bundles of Rs 500 notes from the window of his Bhubaneswar flat upon noticing the presence of the hunt crew. Vigilance officers later recovered the money within the presence of witnesses.
