In the wake of Pakistan’s violation of the lately introduced ceasefire settlement with India, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi mentioned Beijing is able to play a “constructive role” in de-escalating tensions between the 2 neighbours. According to a commentary from China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi held a telephonic dialog with Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. During the decision, Doval reportedly conveyed that the new terrorist assault in Pahalgam led to critical casualties and necessitated counter-terrorism movements by way of India.
“War is not India’s choice and it serves no one’s interests. India and Pakistan are committed to a ceasefire and seek to restore regional peace and stability at the earliest,” the commentary quoted Doval as pronouncing.
