How 'Tracker's' Justin Hartley Trains to Handle Any Terrain


Whether it’s Brad Pitt’s shredded body in Fight Club or Henry Cavill getting superhero-jacked for Man of Steel and Batman v Superman, lovers are obsessive about superstar health transformations—and Justin Hartley is not any exception. For years, Hartley has made a reputation for himself in roles that exhibit his body. In This Is Us, he performs Kevin Pearson, the athletic, spotlight-chasing “eldest” Pearson triplet recognized for his ripped construct and soccer roots. In Netflix’s Senior Year, he’s taking at the position of Blaine Balboa, the assured, popularity-driven top schooler who’s greater than a bit of hung up on his look.

But Hartley’s newest position is a big pivot. In Tracker, an American action-drama sequence, he stars as Colter Shaw, a rugged, lone-wolf survivalist who makes use of instincts and grit to search out lacking individuals and declare rewards. While lifting heavy is not an enormous a part of Hartley’s regimen for this position, he nonetheless desires to be in what he calls “wiry” form. The roughly man that would “probably crush your skull with their hands, and they’re really strong, but they’re not bodybuilder type guys.”

“As the show moved on and evolved and changed a bit, the character kind of changed, and it was like, ‘Oh, maybe not such a rock climber,'” he says. “So I got a little bit bigger, not too much. I put like five pounds on, maybe seven pounds on or something like that, of muscle, and just changed my workouts [to include] a little bit heavier weights every now and then.”
