Elon Musk mentioned Tuesday that he expects Tesla and xAI will proceed purchasing chips from semiconductor giants Nvidia and AMD, and most likely others.
Musk’s synthetic intelligence corporate, xAI, which now owns X (previously Twitter) has already put in 200,000 GPUs at its Colossus facility in Memphis, the Tesla CEO advised CNBC’s David Faber on Tuesday. XAI could also be making plans a 1 million GPU facility out of doors of Memphis, Musk mentioned.
He didn’t specify what number of chips the corporate had already ordered and in which date they is also put in.
“A few years ago, I made a very obvious prediction, which is that the limitation on AI will be chips,” he mentioned.
At his automobiles industry, Tesla, Musk mentioned the corporate’s Dojo supercomputer in Buffalo, New York is already used for coaching its Autopilot and Optimus robotics programs.
