Arrest after policeman injured through automotive in Rusholme Manchester

Greater Manchester Police have arrested a person after a police sergeant used to be injured in an alleged hit-and-run.

The officer, who has no longer been named, used to be harm when his legs had been beaten between two cars, the power stated.

A automotive “reversed into the officer several times” on Frodsham Street, Rusholme, at roughly 18:00 on Friday. The motive force then fled the scene, the power stated.

A 41-year-old guy is in custody and has been arrested on suspicion of attack, unhealthy using and failure to prevent, GMP added.

Wishing her colleague a “speedy recovery”, Assistant Chief Constable Steph Parker condemned any attack on an officer as “wholly unacceptable”.

These attacks take officials “away from being able to serve and protect the public, which is what they come to work each shift to do”, she stated in a commentary launched through GMP.

Assistant Chief Constable Parker added: “This incident is a reminder of the risks that our frontline officers face daily as they go about their duties to keep communities safe and respond to incidents.”

The GMP sergeant concerned within the alleged hit-and-run is being handled in health facility and isn’t believed to have life-threatening or life-altering accidents.

An investigation into the incident is now underneath approach.

Thanking individuals who had already come ahead with data, the assistant leader constable requested any person who had related CCTV or dashcam photos to name police on 101.
