Amazon‘s Zoox issued a instrument recall for 270 of its robotaxis after a crash in Las Vegas final month, the corporate mentioned Tuesday.
The recall surrounds a defect with the automobile’s automatic using gadget that might purpose it to inaccurately expect the motion of every other automobile, expanding “the risk of a crash,” consistent with a file submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Zoox submitted the recall after an April 8 incident in Las Vegas the place an unoccupied Zoox robotaxi collided with a passenger automobile, the NHTSA file states. There had been no accidents within the crash.
“After analysis and rigorous testing, Zoox identified the root cause,” the corporate mentioned in a weblog put up. “We issued a software update that was implemented across all Zoox vehicles.
