
A block of residences in north-west London has been evacuated after a big hearth unfold from a neighbouring electrical energy substation.
About 80 citizens have been ended in protection after the roof of the construction on Aberdeen Place, Maida Vale stuck alight from the blaze which broke out at about 05:30 BST.
No accidents had been reported, even though London Fire Brigade (LFB) has prompt different native citizens to stay their doorways and home windows closed.
UK Power Networks mentioned the reason for the fireplace was once a “fault on a piece of equipment” in its substation”.
More than 100 firefighters are tackling the flames, which have sent large clouds of grey smoke into the air.
UK Power Networks said the substation remained operational and there had been no interruption to the electricity supply.
Sanna Daw, who lives in a nearby block told the BBC she had seen “vibrant orange flames” that were 6 – 8 ft high (about 1.8m – 2.4m) and a “large billowing black plume” of smoke rise from the burning building.
“At one degree there was once a large eruption… I used to be fairly scared,” she said.
‘I felt the warmth’
One resident who had to leave her home said she had been awoken by her mother at about 05:30 who had smelled the fire burning.
Alice Bazzi said as the morning went on, the flames became “upper than those bushes” before catching the roof of her building.
She said the fire grew worse until “some kind inferno blow-up took place”.
Using her hands to mimic the sudden rising of flames, she added: “You did not pay attention it however you simply noticed it, it went ‘phew’.
“You felt it on your face, I felt the heat.”

LFB mentioned it had gained greater than 160 calls in regards to the hearth, which it described as “very visible”.
A UK Power Networks spokesperson mentioned: “Our teams are working with the fire service to make the equipment safe.
“This is an remoted incident and shoppers’ provides weren’t impacted.”
