Buddy urges Bulldogs to keep away from ‘worst choice’ on trainer

Soon to be out of contract Western Bulldogs trainer Luke Beveridge has discovered a huge best friend in AFL nice Lance Franklin.

Beveridge has the Bulldogs in nice form early within the 2025 season, sitting at 4-3 regardless of important accidents around the board.

“I think what he’s been able to do for that club, and obviously winning the premiership, but I just think he’s a genius, I really do. I think he’s a bloody good coach.

“If I used to be the Bulldogs, I might be locking him away needless to say.”

Franklin was on the other side of the 2016 grand final – with the Swans – and knows first hand what Beveridge and the Bulldogs are capable of accomplishing.

He believes the Dogs would be mad to allow him to walk elsewhere.

“If he does not get a freelance, I feel that is the worst choice a membership may ever make. Unless there is something else we do not find out about in the back of shut doorways,” he said.

“He’s one of the vital best possible coaches within the pageant. I’d be giving him a 3 or 4 12 months deal and announcing ‘there you pass, you deserve that’.

“They’ve had injuries and they’re humming. They’re playing well. And give Marcus Bontempelli a 10-year deal too, stuff it.”

Beveridge has already said that if he isn’t training on the Western Bulldogs in 2026, he may not be training anyplace.
